Visual Abstracts
Submitting to SOARD? The Editors strongly encourage prospective authors consider including a Graphical Abstract along with their manuscript submission:
A graphical abstract should allow readers to quickly gain an understanding of the take-home message of the paper and is intended to encourage browsing, promote interdisciplinary scholarship, and help readers identify more quickly which papers are most relevant to their research interests.
Research has shown that articles which have graphical abstracts are beneficial both in terms of views of the article as well as increased activity on social media. In particular, the average annual use of an article is doubled when compared with those without a visual abstract.
To submit your Graphical Abstract to SOARD, be sure to check out the Author Guidelines and Elsevier’s free graphical abstract template.
SOARD has a dedicated team of Editors who create Visual Abstracts for select accepted papers to use for promotional purposes across our webpages and on social media.
Authors are encouraged to provide a preliminary draft Visual Abstract with their submission by selecting "Visual Abstract" when uploading files. If submitting a preliminary Visual Abstract for the Editors’ consideration, please use the abstract template provided. Authors who upload Visual Abstracts in file types that cannot be edited may be asked by Editors to resubmit if their paper is selected.
Please note: SOARD will not publish Visual Abstracts as part of the published paper. The Visual Abstracts’ intent is to encourage browsing from external sites such as Twitter and other social media.
